Research: Sanjeeva Balasuriya

I am interested in problems which lie at the interface between mathematics and its applications. The projects I work on usually emerge directly from physical instances. Ideally, I would like to use mathematical (as opposed to numerical) methods to better understand the underlying mechanisms and their effects. I sometimes also use computational methods to investigate problems intractable to analysis, or to supplement theoretical results. I also work on developing and extending mathematical theories to help in such physical analyses.

I am happy to work on projects in areas new to me to which I can contribute. In particular, with folks at Connecticut College!
